You don’t need to be buying Chanel nail polish or mixing your own MAC pigment polish to get the molten metal look though – there are some beautiful metals out there that will give you change from a tenner.
This week we’re getting the inside scoop from Fiona Hay, celebrity manicurist and creative director at ORLY. We asked Fiona the obvious questions about nail polish trends, her 2011 predictions and why the sky is blue (that last one is a lie – we all know it’s because there is a giant mirror in the sky that reflects the ocean. duh)

One of the joys of writing a blog entirely devoted to nail polish is people always asking me what colours will be on trend next week/month/season. I have been saying for months that we would be glimmering in gold this summer, so I figured a round-up was in order.
There are various shades of gold…rose gold, yellow gold, pale gold, bronze gold. Not all of them suit every skin tone, but hopefully there is something here for everyone.

ORLY have brought out a nail art kit and I was fortunate enough to get my hands on it for a first look.
There are five bottles of polish in the kit – Jet Black, Fiery Red, Sunshine (yellow), True Blue and Crisp White. The brush in each bottle is very fine (a striper brush) which is designed for long and controlled lines. The kit also comes with a double ended dotter tool for creating various sized spots.
