Another day, another crackle polish busting its way onto shelves. This trend is so mainstream it’s going to turn into a pair of mum jeans and a Just Cuts haircut.

Not to say I don’t still love it though. I do. I love crackle polish with the tyres of a thousand hipster fixies. And these two new offerings from b Collection by Bloom are quality. A black and a white, they crackle within a minute (a little slower than some other polishes) and they wear really well.

If I have said it once, I have said it 100 times – OPI mini sets are the bees knees for trying out a bunch of colours without the commitment of a full bottle. Plus, they’re really cute.

I have to admit I wasn’t totally enamoured with the OPI Touring America collection – I love a grey as much as the next person, but it was all a bit drab for me. That said, the mini collection is a great sampler for this collection, with the four best colours highlighted and available for miniature consumption (although I Eat Mainely Lobster is a pretty fantastic colour that missed the boat – buy a full size of that one).

I love an Australis limited edition. Truly, I do. I think Australis is a great little brand and their polish is a quality formula. I always do a little happy dance when a package from them lands on the desk here at TNF HQ.

We’re just two weeks away from September, which means we’re about to be inundated with pink ribbon products for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a cause near and dear to my heart. I will always happily support any brand who genuinely donates their profits or a percentage to this cause, and this includes OPI.

I have to admit that when I think about bright and bold nail polishes, Avon isn’t usually a brand that springs to mind. Traditional and conservative, yes – lovely pinks and reds, but certainly not bold corals and glittery purples. Happily, I will eat my words because these three Avon colours have certainly changed my opinion.

The May issue with Keira Knightley is on sale today (April 11) and is $7.80. Even if you skip the nail polish (moron) it’s still worth buying the magazine anyway. Sigh. Swoon. Be still my heart. Estee Lauder have just launched their new Pure Color Wild Violet Makeup Collection (fyi – really awesome collection) and the jewel in the crown is the Wild Storm nail lacquer. It’s the perfect winter colour – steel grey with hints of metallic silver, a lick of bluish-teal and a gentle shine. Wait…haven’t I described this before? Oh that’s right, Chanel Black Pearl.
