Tried and tested: OPI Swiss Collection

Posted on 31. Aug, 2010 by in Tried and Tested

Remember when I posted about the OPI Swiss Collection? I have been gradually swatching a handful of my favourites from the range – I say gradually because I fell in love with each and every colour and didn’t want to take it off. This obviously holds the swatching process up somewhat.

I picked three metallics and two cremes to swatch – two blues, two burgundies and a green. I went with winter-y colours that are also going to be wearable coming into spring.

Ski Teal We Drop was my favourite and definitely the biggest compliment thief of the lot. You may remember seeing this blue in my graduated blue mani from a few weeks ago – this was the darkest shade. I swatched it against my favourite blue Divine Rights of Denim jeans because they are an exact colour match. It’s a lovely crème and you only need two coats for full opacity.

Just A Little Rosti At This was the other crème and is also a two coat wonder. It’s a lovely burgundy that errs on the side of pinky rather than red. A very sophisticated shade.

Diva Of Geneva looks burgundy in the bottle, but the metallic flecks throw more of a purple once it hits the nail (very difficult to photograph). This lacquer is multi-dimensional and really lush.

Yodel Me On My Cell is an electric blue metallic flecked with silvery and white sparks. Reminded me a little of the Alice in Wonderland blue glitter (which I would have compared except silly me never got around to buying it). This will be a great party season varnish; perfect with an LBD. Two coats is just right, although this was the only colour of the lot that chipped on me (only a small chip though).

Cuckoo For This Colour is an unusual shade of green – it’s halfway between emerald and jade, with a hint of blue. Also very metallic, with silvery and white flecks. This is definitely a winter and early spring colour.
